Hansa Yellow Light and Turquoise Color Mixing Chart

In this watercolour mixing chart, I've mixed Daniel Smith's Hansa Yellow Light PY3 with turquoises from various brands including Rosa, Shinhan, Winsor & Newton, Kusakabe, and Renesans. I've swatched these on cheap watercolour paper from Kmart.

My favourite mixes are those with Rosa Gallery Cobalt Turquoise PB28 and Winsor & Newton Cobalt Turquoise Light PG50 — I just love those acidic greens and how easy it was to get a distinct range of colours through mixing. I struggled a bit with the mixes for the last three rows, but that could be a lack of skill on my part rather than an issue with the paints.

After doing this chart, I can see that a lot of the mixes in the first four rows turned out pretty similar even though different pigments were used.

The W&N Cobalt Turquoise Light* is such a beautiful (and expensive!) colour, but Rosa's Cobalt Turquoise* is a decent enough substitute at around 1/10th of the price per ml.

The Renesans Intense Cobalt Green Deep PG50 on row 7 is a good example of how two colours might have the same pigment number, but look completely different.
