Titanium Yellow and Mid/Warm Red Color Mixing Chart

PY53 is one of my favourite colours in watercolour paints.

In this watercolour mixing chart, I've mixed Renesans Intense Titanium Yellow PY53 with mid and warm reds from various brands including Holbein, Daniel Smith, Kusakabe, Renesans Intense and Renesanse Extra Fine. These are swatched on this cheap watercolour paper from Kmart.

There's very little visible difference between the mixes that used Holbein Carmine and Kusakabe Rose Madder. This is unsurprising, given they are the same pigment: PR83. 

PR83 (commonly called Alizarin Crimson) is fugitive, so you may want to avoid using it for artworks that will be displayed as the colour will eventually fade.

Interestingly, the PR83 mixes look almost identical to the mixes created with the Daniel Smith Permanent Alizarin Crimson. This mix of PR149/PV19/PR177 is a lightfast alternative to PR83, and you can see in the mixes how similar it is to the 'real' thing.

The Renesans Intense Permanent Carmine PR48.4 and Renesans Intense Scarlet Red PR254 mixes look pretty similar to each other as well. Given that they're from the same range, you probably would not need both colours as to me the difference isn't all that noticeable.
